PROJECTS

1

In the first weeks of COVID-19 pandemic, our purpose was to provide the refugee families with essential donations to help them stay safe. We ran several drives where we gathered critical items such as gloves, soap, sanitizing hand wipes, and face masks (some of which were hand made and provided by Mighty Masks). We also gathered clothes, snacks, and other gifts for the families.

Our second project focuses on delivering online tutoring services for refugee children in need. Currently, our tutors have provided over 500 hours of help for communities in San Diego, but we are also in the process of expanding our services to communities in North Carolina and other parts of the United States.

We are building social and print media presence to bring more visibility and awareness to the struggles of African refugees and the nonprofit organizations that help them.

4

We encourage refugee students to participate in our weekly virtual art class. It can help expose them to new artistic passions that they wouldn't have had an opportunity to discover otherwise.

5

A lot of the parents in the refugee community have lost their jobs due to the COVID pandemic, so they struggle in affording everyday necessities for their families. We host events such as our Holiday and Back-to-School donation drives in order to help them get what they need.
